Acer Unveils 13.3-Inch EP130K E-Paper Monitor at IFA 2026

At the IFA 2026 consumer electronics show in Berlin, Acer unveiled the EP130K portable e-paper monitor. The product applies e-paper technology to desktop office scenarios, supports color display and touch operation, and offers a refresh rate of up to 60Hz. It targets professionals who work in front of screens for long periods, heavy readers, and mobile workers who frequently work outdoors.

The EP130K uses a 13.3-inch matte e-paper panel that supports finger touch and can also be paired with a stylus for note-taking, annotation, and drawing. Acer positions it as a secondary display for reading, note-taking, document processing, and extended focused work. In monochrome mode, the screen has a maximum resolution of 3200x2400, equivalent to about 308 pixels per inch; in color mode, resolution drops to 1600x1200 and can display 4096 colors. The product uses E Ink Kaleido 3 color e-paper technology, intended mainly for charts, markup, highlighted content, and light color office scenarios, not for audio and video entertainment.

On refresh rate, the EP130K is rated for up to 60Hz in both monochrome and color modes. Acer also published a 20-millisecond gray-to-gray response time figure. Because the design eliminates a backlight, the product does not produce the blue-light exposure and glare common to traditional monitors; it remains readable in bright sunlight, while visibility in dim environments is somewhat affected.

For connectivity, the EP130K uses a single USB-C cable that carries both power and video signal. The bistable display mechanism of e-paper allows the screen to retain its last image after all power connections are removed, without continuous power draw to maintain static content. Previously, the e-paper monitor niche was mainly occupied by specialist vendors such as Dasung and Bigme. Acer is now entering this field and launched the EP130K at IFA 2026.
