European aerospace giant Airbus released its first-half 2026 financial report on July 29. The data showed net profit for the period rose 47.1% from the same period in 2024 to 2.243 billion euros (about 420 billion yen). The growth was mainly driven by an increase in commercial aircraft deliveries and strong defense equipment sales as countries bolster national security amid geopolitical tensions.

During the reporting period, Airbus achieved sales of 33.176 billion euros, up 12.0% year-on-year. Commercial aircraft deliveries totaled 351, a significant increase from 306 in the same period of 2024, surpassing the 314 deliveries of rival U. S. planemaker Boeing. In addition, revenue from the defense and space division grew by about 9%.

Airbus's chief executive officer expressed satisfaction with the first-half performance and said the company is pursuing capacity expansion across its operations to address growing demand in both the civil and military sectors.
