Alibaba Launches Qoder Agent Workbench with 6 Million Users and $100 Million Revenue in 8 Months

On August 27, Alibaba unveiled Qoder, a new agent workbench with coding as its core capability. Designed for all users, the product allows anyone—regardless of coding knowledge—to turn ideas into deployable applications through natural language. It serves both professional developers and non-technical roles such as product managers, designers, operations staff, data analysts, and independent creators. After a user describes an idea, Qoder progressively refines the requirements and completes development collaboration through dialogue.

Qoder introduces new interactive features, including a desktop pet and real-time voice control. Users can click the desktop pet to dictate requirements or issue commands, and the pet remains on the desktop while syncing task progress. The platform offers two modes: programming mode, tailored for professional developers with on-demand model selection, and general mode, where non-technical users can access coding capabilities without touching code. In general mode, an Auto intelligent scheduling engine automatically balances output quality, execution speed, and cost based on task type.

In terms of extensibility, Qoder has integrated more than 40 connectors, over 70 plugins, and a skills library of more than 20,000 entries. It can connect to code repositories, project management tools, cloud services, and internal enterprise business systems. The platform is built on the Agent Harness foundation, developed over the past year, which supports long-chain and highly complex tasks, including long-context understanding, complex task decomposition, code execution, and result verification.

Since its launch, Qoder has seen rapid user growth. It reached 100,000 users within five days, surpassed 1 million users in six weeks, and generated $100 million in revenue within eight months. To date, cumulative users exceed 6 million, with more than 100,000 enterprise users. During the initial launch period, the platform offered promotional benefits: from August 28 to September 1 at 10:00 AM, individual users could claim 500 Qwen model-specific Credits daily for five consecutive days, up to a maximum of 2,500 Credits. Enterprise users received a 50% discount on the Qwen 3.8 series models.

In terms of functionality, Qoder can build small tools for batch processing design assets, enabling tasks such as asset compression, format conversion, renaming, image cropping, and watermark removal, while automatically performing previews, troubleshooting, and functional testing. The platform can also develop health management application prototypes, automatically constructing food databases, configuring plugins, and generating apps with features like diet logging, calorie calculation, trend analysis, and meal planning. Additionally, Qoder can write enterprise-level business regression automation test scripts, autonomously generating 101 test cases and producing test reports.
