Alibaba Network Ends ASR Microelectronics Stake Sale Early After Cutting 7.77 Million Shares

Alibaba (China) Network Technology ended its ASR Microelectronics share-reduction plan early after selling 7.7658 million shares, or 1.8565% of total share capital, between August 17 and September 10, 2026, at RMB 82.91 to RMB 107.87 per share for about RMB 703 million. Its stake fell to 10.5768% from 12.4333%, leaving 4.7833 million shares excluded from further sale. Alibaba Network remains the largest single shareholder.

ASR Microelectronics disclosed on the evening of September 10 that it received a share-reduction result notice that day from shareholder Alibaba (China) Network Technology Co. , Ltd. Alibaba Network decided to terminate its reduction plan early, and the remaining 4.7833 million shares will no longer be sold.

The announcement shows that from August 17 to September 10, 2026, Alibaba Network sold a total of 7.7658 million ASR Microelectronics shares through centralized bidding and block trades, representing 1.8565% of the company's total share capital. The sale price ranged from RMB 82.91 to RMB 107.87 per share, for total proceeds of about RMB 703 million. After the reduction, Alibaba Network's stake fell to 10.5768% from 12.4333%, and it remains ASR Microelectronics' largest single shareholder.

Alibaba Network disclosed the reduction plan on May 23, 2026. It originally provided for a maximum reduction of 3% of ASR Microelectronics' total share capital, or no more than 12.549 million shares, within three months beginning 15 trading days after the plan's disclosure. From September 8 to September 10, 2026, Alibaba Network sold 2.4827 million shares through centralized bidding and block trades, reducing its stake to 10.58% from 11.17% and crossing the 1% threshold for an equity change. The announcement also stated that the equity change will not have a material impact on the company's governance structure or going-concern operations.

Public information shows that Alibaba Network first invested in ASR Microelectronics in 2017. In August 2017, Alibaba Network made its initial investment in ASR Microelectronics' predecessor at USD 1.10 per unit of capital contribution, subscribing USD 66.8182 million and corresponding to a USD 73.5 million contribution. In June 2018, Alibaba Network participated in another capital increase at USD 1.69 per unit of capital contribution, subscribing USD 14.7802 million and corresponding to a USD 24.9785 million contribution. The two investments totaled about USD 98.4785 million. After ASR Microelectronics completed its shareholding reform in August 2020, Alibaba Network held 64.5574 million shares, or 20.17%. In January 2022, ASR Microelectronics listed on the STAR Market at an issue price of RMB 164.54 per share, and Alibaba Network's stake fell to 15.4333%. From October to December 2025, Alibaba Network reduced its stake in the company by 3%, generating about RMB 1.056 billion. Together with the current reduction, it has recovered about RMB 1.759 billion in total.

ASR Microelectronics is a platform chip company providing full-standard cellular basebands, intelligent SoCs, and customized cloud- and device-side computing chips. In the first half of 2026, the company recorded operating revenue of RMB 2.451 billion, up 29.15% year on year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 84.2438 million, turning profitable from a year-earlier loss. Based on the company's closing price of RMB 89.40 per share on September 10, Alibaba Network's remaining 44.2427 million shares had a market value of about RMB 3.955 billion, while the company's market value that day was RMB 37.396 billion. From the start of 2026 to September 10, ASR Microelectronics' share price rose about 8.22% cumulatively, after climbing to an intra-year high of RMB 133.50 per share in June.
