Alienware Laptops Bricked After Playing 'Infinity Nikki'; EC Chip Failure Suspected
Two Alienware gaming laptops, models m17 R4 and m15 R3, failed to power on after playing the game 'Infinity Nikki,' with repair technicians attributing the issue to EC chip damage, possibly from overheating or voltage spikes. The EC chip, responsible for power management and boot sequence, required reprogramming. Neither the game developer nor Dell has responded.
Two Alienware gaming laptops, the m17 R4 and m15 R3, have become unbootable due to damage to their Embedded Controller (EC) chips. The EC chip manages power delivery and the boot process; when it fails, the laptop cannot start. After reprogramming the EC chip, the m17 R4's internal display remained non-functional, though it worked with an external monitor, while the m15 R3's screen functioned normally.
The incidents are linked to the game 'Infinity Nikki,' which employs Tencent's ACE anti-cheat system. As of now, neither the game's developer nor Dell has issued an official response.
