Amazon Suspends 21 Air Partnership After Miami Cargo Jet Runway Accident Kills Five
Amazon has suspended its partnership with cargo carrier 21 Air LLC after a Boeing 767 freighter operating flight 7598 overran the runway at Miami International Airport on September 6 and struck two vehicles, killing five people on the ground and injuring five others. Amazon said it supported the investigation and reviewed the circumstances before deciding to pause cooperation with 21 Air. Cockpit audio released by the National Transportation Safety Board shows a pilot called off the landing because the aircraft was approaching too fast.

The Boeing 767 freighter, operating flight 7598, veered off the apron at Miami International Airport and struck two vehicles. The five people killed and the five injured in the accident were all inside the two vehicles hit by the aircraft.
Cockpit audio released by the National Transportation Safety Board shows one of the pilots ordered an aborted landing because the aircraft was approaching too fast.
In a statement, 21 Air cited its own safety policies, processes and training, and said that while the investigation continues it will focus on working closely with the National Transportation Safety Board and all partners, including Amazon.
