AMD launches USD 99 Ryzen 5 5500F and USD 189 Ryzen 5 7500
AMD has introduced the Ryzen 5 5500F, a 6-core, 12-thread AM4 processor priced at USD 99, based on the desktop Zen 3 Vermeer chiplet family and lacking integrated graphics. It offers a 3.0GHz base clock, 4.4GHz boost, 65W TDP and 16MB of L3 cache, with PCIe 4.0 support. AMD also released the Zen 4 Ryzen 5 7500 at USD 189 with RDNA 2 integrated graphics.
AMD has launched the Ryzen 5 5500F processor for the entry-level market, priced at USD 99, with a 6-core, 12-thread configuration and continued use of the AM4 socket. The processor differs from the regular Ryzen 5 5500, which uses the Cezanne monolithic integrated architecture, derived from the Ryzen 5000G APU with the integrated graphics disabled. The Ryzen 5 5500F belongs at the silicon level to the desktop Zen 3 architecture family codenamed Vermeer, based on chiplets. The AM4 platform was introduced nearly a decade ago.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Ryzen 5 5500F has 6 cores and 12 threads, a base operating frequency of 3.0GHz, a maximum boost frequency of 4.4GHz, and a thermal design power of 65W. Compared with the Ryzen 5 5600, which has 32MB of L3 cache, the Ryzen 5 5500F has 16MB of L3 cache. Compared with the older Ryzen 5 5500, the processor supports the PCIe 4.0 bus protocol rather than PCIe 3.0. Because it carries the "F" suffix and is based on the Vermeer architecture, the processor does not include integrated graphics, and users must pair it with a discrete graphics card.
