Anthropic in Talks to Acquire Decart AI at About $6 Billion, Its Largest Pre-IPO Deal
Anthropic is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart at a valuation of about US$6 billion, a deal that is not yet final and would be its largest acquisition before an IPO. Decart's software improves chip efficiency, cutting AI training costs and helping Anthropic's infrastructure handle greater demand. Founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers, Decart raised US$300 million in May, led by Radical Ventures with Nvidia and Adobe Ventures, valuing it at nearly US$4 billion. The acquisition supports Anthropic's compute expansion, with its latest valuation around US$965 billion.
Decart's software helps chips run more efficiently, thereby lowering the cost of training artificial intelligence models. This technology could help Anthropic's existing infrastructure handle greater demand. Anthropic has invested heavily in computing power in recent years to develop new products and deliver services.
Decart was founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers. In May, it announced a US$300 million funding round led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Nvidia and Adobe Ventures. After that round, the company was valued at nearly US$4 billion, up from US$3.1 billion in August 2025. Its earlier investors also include Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Zeev.
The acquisition of Decart is part of Anthropic's broader effort to expand its computing capacity. Both OpenAI and Anthropic have committed tens of billions to hundreds of billions of dollars to build data centers equipped with expensive chips, and they increasingly rely on hardware from multiple suppliers.
Anthropic's valuation after its latest funding round is about US$965 billion.
