Apple iOS 27 Adds HomeKit Video AI Summaries for iCloud+ Users on 2TB and Above

Apple has announced that in the upcoming iOS 27 system, iPhone users subscribed to iCloud+ plans with 2TB or more of storage will gain three new Apple Intelligence features in the Home app. These include AI-generated video descriptions for HomeKit security cameras, retrieval of camera clip segments, and automatic summarization of key highlights. In the fifth developer preview of iOS 27, the Home app clearly indicates the maximum number of cameras that can enable generative video summaries under the current account plan. For example, users with 8TB of total iCloud+ storage (6TB iCloud+ combined with 2TB Apple One) can enable video summaries on up to 15 cameras.

Some higher-tier iCloud+ plans will also raise the daily usage limits for other Apple Intelligence features, including the Image Playground image generation app. Apple stated that these new capabilities rely on more expensive high-compute server models, and therefore the related AI features are restricted to the higher-tier paid iCloud+ plans.
