Apple on Monday released the sixth developer beta of macOS Golden Gate (macOS 27), one week after the fifth beta. The lightweight update introduces two Golden Gate Bridge dynamic wallpapers showing day and night scenes, and a "liquid glass" redesign of window control icons with subtle shadows. Apple on Monday released the sixth developer beta of macOS Golden Gate (macOS 27), just one week after the fifth beta. The update is lightweight but includes two key visual adjustments.

The system adds two Golden Gate Bridge-themed dynamic wallpapers, both video files, showing the bridge in daytime and nighttime scenes. Since macOS Sonoma introduced high-resolution dynamic wallpapers, the feature has become standard in subsequent versions; the new wallpapers showcase the real landmark corresponding to the system's name.

Meanwhile, the window control icons have been redesigned in a "liquid glass" style. The traditional "traffic light" icons for zoom, minimize, and maximize now feature subtle shadows on their tops and edges, transforming the visual effect from flat circles to dimensional glass-like buttons. The change does not fully return to the early Aqua skeuomorphic aesthetic, but the visual difference is noticeable.

The sixth developer beta focuses primarily on system-level performance enhancements and does not include new features for developers to test. The public release of macOS Golden Gate is scheduled to roll out to users in September 2026.
