Apple Ships iOS 26.6.1 Security Update and Sixth Developer Beta of iOS 27
Apple on August 17 released iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1 to all users, build 23G83, following a release candidate issued August 10. The company also pushed iOS 18.7.10, iPadOS 18.7.10, visionOS 26.6.1 and macOS 26.6.2, all carrying routine security fixes, with the full vulnerability list not yet disclosed. Separately, Apple seeded the sixth developer beta of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and macOS 27, signaling final polish ahead of the autumn launch.
Apple on August 17 pushed the iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1 system updates to all users, with both carrying internal build number 23G83. The release candidate of this version was issued on August 10, and iPhone devices currently running iOS 26.6 or earlier can download and install the update. Apple also pushed updates for other devices, including the older iOS 18.7.10 and iPadOS 18.7.10 (build 22H374), visionOS 26.6.1 (build 23O780) and macOS 26.6.2 (build 25G83). Apple said these stable releases mainly contain routine security fixes, and the full list of patched vulnerabilities has not yet been published. The previous iOS 26.6 version fixed more than 75 security vulnerabilities in a single release.
While maintaining existing systems, Apple simultaneously released the sixth developer beta of its next-generation operating systems, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and macOS 27. The betas are open to developers and mark the polishing and finalization phase of new features, preparing for the official release in the autumn.
