ASML Starts Building New Eindhoven Campus, First Phase Due in 2029
Dutch lithography equipment maker ASML has begun construction of its new Brainport Industries Campus North in Eindhoven, with a total floor area of 350,000 square meters. The first phase, scheduled for completion in 2029, will accommodate 3,000 employees. The campus will eventually support up to 20,000 jobs, depending on business needs, and will feature a "flow factory" for next-generation TWINSCAN manufacturing.
Dutch lithography equipment maker ASML started construction on September 8 of its new Brainport Industries Campus North (BIC North) in Eindhoven. BIC North is ASML's second large-scale industrial campus in the Brainport region of the Netherlands. Once completed, it will join the De Run 1000 headquarters campus and the De Run 6000/7000 industrial site in Veldhoven as the company's three main operational bases in the area.
The first phase will primarily house teams relocating from ASML's existing office and production locations, consolidating manufacturing, logistics, and supporting office activities on one site to shorten the distance between different stages of the process.
The project is being developed in phases, with a long-term capacity of up to 20,000 jobs, though the actual scale of construction will depend on ASML's future business needs. The company did not disclose the investment amount for the project in its announcement, nor did it indicate that all positions would be new hires.
A core feature of the new campus is what ASML calls a "flow factory," which will adopt a next-generation manufacturing model for TWINSCAN lithography systems. This model reorganizes the flow of materials, module production, and equipment installation to improve speed, efficiency, and scale. It draws on proven manufacturing methods from the automotive and aerospace industries, reducing pauses and handling in the production process while maintaining quality standards. The new campus will provide additional manufacturing space and expansion flexibility, though ASML has not yet announced specific capacity targets for various lithography systems at BIC North.
The Eindhoven city council approved the relevant development arrangements in March 2026, after which local authorities began land preparation, roadworks, and ecological supporting projects. The ceremony on September 8 marked the official start of the main construction phase of the ASML campus, attended by Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, along with representatives from government, customers, suppliers, and research institutions.
Progress on the project depends on the parallel expansion of local infrastructure, including transport, electricity, housing, and talent supply. The company is participating in long-term initiatives in local talent development, affordable housing, and equal opportunity through public-private partnerships, in support of the expansion of the company and the Brainport industrial cluster.
