ASUS confirmed on August 25 that its new handheld ROG Xbox Ally X20, developed in partnership with Xbox, is priced at $1,299 and will launch on October 15, with pre-orders now open. The device introduces multiple upgrades over the previous ROG Xbox Ally X, with the focus on the display, controls, and chassis craftsmanship.

The X20 features a 7.4-inch 1080p OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, supporting FreeSync Premium Pro and Dolby Vision HDR, with peak HDR brightness of 1,400 nits, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and an anti-reflective coating. Core specifications remain unchanged from the previous Ally X: the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB LPDDR5X memory, and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Other improvements include TMR joysticks, a morphable D-pad, rounded face buttons, optimized shoulder buttons and triggers, and rubberized grips. The chassis uses a black translucent material that subtly reveals the redesigned internal cooling hardware, accented with gold detailing as a signature of the 20th anniversary edition. The 80Wh battery capacity remains unchanged.

ASUS is also offering a bundle priced at $2,499 that includes the handheld, ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, a custom dbrand Killswitch protective case, a 68W adapter, and a Pelican Protector Case. At $1,299, the X20 is roughly $300 more expensive than the previous Ally X, though the processor, memory, and storage are unchanged. Its price also exceeds the disc-based Xbox Series X, which retails at $799.99, by $500.
