Baidu Upgrades Wenxin Assistant to Task Engine 2.0, Daily Active Users Up 83%

On August 20, Baidu announced at its AI Day open day that the Wenxin Assistant in the Baidu app has been upgraded to Task Engine 2.0. The engine can autonomously plan and execute tasks according to user goals, covering scenarios such as finance, education, and office work, and is capable of completing information collection, processing, creative expression, and delivery of finished outputs.

Data show that in June 2026, the Wenxin Assistant's daily active users grew 83% year-on-year, while average daily dialogue rounds increased by more than twofold. On the same day, the Baidu app launched the "GUI Knowledge Cards" feature for search results, which integrates knowledge cards, step-by-step diagrams, and interactive animations into structured pages. The feature currently covers high-frequency examination points in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
