Blizzard Announces Diablo Animated Series in Development at Netflix

On the opening night of BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard Entertainment president Johanna Faries took the stage to announce that an animated series based on the Diablo franchise is currently in development at Netflix. Faries said the company is looking for creative partners to expand the stories of its intellectual property, that multiple projects are moving forward across its major core universes, and that one of those projects was being revealed that day. No release date for the series has been announced, nor has the animation studio producing it been disclosed.

About a month after Asha Sharma took over as the new head of Xbox, Netflix co-chief executive Greg Peters expressed support for her. Sharma and Peters had discussed ideas for potential collaboration, including bundling Netflix and Xbox Game Pass into a unified subscription service. In July 2026, Sharma set out a strategic plan to strengthen Xbox's cross-media footprint, spanning film, television, consumer products, brand sponsorships, and offline experiences, and to build new partnerships worldwide, including in the Chinese market.
