At the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony, Blizzard announced the launch of Forsaken Kingdom, a new campaign for Warcraft III: Reforged. Players will experience the fall of Lordaeron and witness the rise of the Forsaken. The new DLC is available to play immediately, alongside the free 3.0 Final Edition update. Forsaken Kingdom is paid content and requires ownership of the Warcraft III: Reforged base game. When Reforged launched in 2020, it suffered from reduced content and unfulfilled promises. In 2026, Blizzard continues to invest development resources in the title.
The new campaign consists of a prologue and three main chapters, with total playtime exceeding 30 hours. Its story fills the narrative gap between Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne, focusing on the complete storyline of Lordaeron's fall and the rise of the Forsaken. The prologue recreates classic tragedies such as Arthas killing his father, the fall of Lordaeron, and Stratholme. The main chapters center on Sylvanas, telling the full story of the undead breaking free from the Lich King's mental control and establishing the Undercity beneath the ruins of Lordaeron. Players will face multiple opponents, including the Scarlet Crusade, the dreadlord Balnazzar, and the Scourge of Naxxramas, advancing the plot through the dual perspectives of Arthas and Sylvanas. A new neutral hero unit, the Forsaken Paladin, is also unlocked, and the story's ending sets up the worldbuilding for World of Warcraft: Forever.
The free 3.0 major update overhauls the base game: it introduces a new Final Edition graphics mode, remakes numerous building and unit models, and improves lighting and shadow effects, with players free to switch between the original and new art styles. It also revamps the inventory system, rewrites the World Editor, and upgrades online servers. All players who own Warcraft III: Reforged can access this content for free.
