BOCHK to Launch 24/7 Cross-Border Remittance Service on September 27, 2026
Bank of China (Hong Kong) will launch BOCHK Instant Remit, a personal cross-border remittance service, on September 27, 2026. The service uses SWIFT's retail cross-border payment initiative to provide round-the-clock transfers that complete in minutes. As an intermediary bank in the project, BOCHK can connect incoming funds to the local Faster Payment System. A first pilot on September 15, 2026 sent customer funds instantly to bank accounts in the United States and Australia. Coverage will expand beyond those two markets.
Bank of China (Hong Kong) has announced that it will officially launch BOCHK Instant Remit, a personal cross-border remittance service, on September 27, 2026.
The service is provided through the retail cross-border payment innovation project jointly introduced by SWIFT and banks, offering personal customers round-the-clock cross-border remittance that takes only minutes in total and allows customers to send funds overseas.
As an intermediary bank in the cross-border payment innovation project, BOCHK is able to connect funds received from an overseas remitting bank to the local Faster Payment System (FPS).
On September 15, 2026, the bank completed its first pilot transactions, instantly remitting customer funds to recipient bank accounts in the United States and Australia respectively.
The bank will gradually expand the service's coverage from the United States and Australia to more overseas recipient regions.
