Boeing Delivers 53 Jets in July, Down 11 From June; Airbus Hands Over 67

Data released by Boeing on August 11 show the company delivered 53 jetliners in July, five more than in the same month last year but a marked decline from the 64 handed over in June. European rival Airbus delivered 67 aircraft in July. Boeing recorded 30 net new orders in July after adjustment for cancellations, including a small number announced during the Farnborough Airshow.

July deliveries included 39 of Boeing's best-selling 737 MAX jets, 10 787s, one 777 freighter and three 767s. Through the end of July, Boeing had delivered 367 aircraft this year, including 279 737 MAXs and 50 787s. On the orders front, Boeing booked 38 new orders in July and recorded eight cancellations, for a net gain of 30. The new orders included 18 737 MAXs and 19 787s.

Most of July's orders were announced during the Farnborough Airshow. Boeing's largest order at the show came from Irish leasing company SMBC Aviation, the world's second-largest lessor, which ordered 100 737 MAXs. That order had been booked in June under an unnamed customer. Boeing said it had accumulated more than 130 orders for the 737-10, the largest model in the 737 MAX family, through the end of July.
