In late August 2026, ByteDance officially released Doubao Work, a product aimed at productivity scenarios. It is defined as autonomously breaking down tasks around user goals, calling tools, and continuously advancing complex workflows. Doubao Work offers a cloud computer and multi-device synchronization. After a user selects the cloud computer while a task is running, the task can continue in the cloud even if the computer is shut down; multi-device synchronization lets users check progress, add requirements, or correct direction on a phone.
The product is built into the Doubao app, requiring no additional application installation, and is connected with Feishu, allowing direct use of organizational context such as enterprise group chats, documents, calendars, and multi-dimensional tables. Doubao Work includes multiple built-in Skills covering office scenarios, and features a partner dialogue function in which users can select Agents with different areas of expertise to collaborate in the same group to analyze, break down tasks, and deliver results.
In functional testing, Doubao Work compiled financing activity in China's embodied-intelligence primary market from January to August 2026, organizing 466 financing records, and generated an industry research report and visualization charts based on the data. The tests also involved generating eight promotional posters for AI glasses and adjusting the posters' selling-point direction after market research. In addition, the tests used an HR recruitment assistant to study changes in talent compensation in the embodied-intelligence industry from June to August 2026, and used a virtual PPT expert to generate a reporting presentation.
In September 2025, the average number of apps used per person across the internet was 29.4, an increase of 0.9 from the same period in 2024.
