ByteDance has obtained a $29.6 billion dollar-denominated loan, making it Asia's second-largest such financing in 2026. ByteDance has secured a $29.6 billion dollar-denominated loan, ranking as the second-largest such financing in Asia for 2026. The company initially sought $20 billion in loan financing, but the facility was expanded to $29.6 billion due to robust subscription from banks. Participating lenders are still confirming their respective commitments, and the loan agreement is pending final signing. Proceeds from the loan will be primarily used for general corporate purposes.
The only dollar loan transaction in Asia exceeding this amount in 2026 is the $40 billion bridge loan obtained by Japan's SoftBank Group in March. The initial interest rate on the loan is 68 basis points above the secured overnight financing rate, with adjustments to be made if the loan term is extended. The company's previous offshore loan was priced at 85 basis points over SOFR, and this financing's rate is among the lowest for similar borrowings by Chinese technology companies.
