Cambridge Aerospace Raises €259.7M Series C, Skyhammer Interceptor Secures UK Defence Order

Cambridge Aerospace, a UK-based air defence company, has completed a Series C funding round of €259.7 million (approximately $300 million), valuing the firm at €2.94 billion (approximately $3.4 billion). The round was led by US growth investor DFJ Growth, with participation from existing investors Lux, Accel, Lakestar, Never Lift, Ora Global and Elad Gil & Co. The proceeds will be used to expand manufacturing capacity to fulfil existing and new contracts, while also supporting further development of current products and the launch of new capabilities.

The company was founded less than two years ago by Steven Barrett, Chris Sylvan and Junaid Hussain, who bring together academic, military and industry experience. Barrett, a former professor of aeronautics at MIT, joined the University of Cambridge in April 2024. Sylvan served more than ten years in the Royal Marines before moving into emerging defence technology. Hussain has founded several technology ventures. The company now employs more than 250 people, two-thirds of whom hold technical and engineering roles, with many drawn from allied armed forces veterans. Beyond the UK, Cambridge Aerospace has established operations in Germany, Poland, Norway, Ukraine and Australia.

Its first product, the Skyhammer interceptor, has been rapidly brought to market. With a range exceeding 30 kilometres and a top speed of 700 kilometres per hour, it is designed to counter drones and low-speed missiles within layered air defence systems. A second product, Starhammer, is scheduled for launch in 2027. In April 2026, the UK Ministry of Defence announced it would procure substantial quantities of Skyhammer systems, with deliveries beginning in May and continuing for six months.

Prior to this Series C, the company completed a Series B round of €173.1 million (approximately $200 million) in April 2026, co-led by Elad Gil & Co and Spark Capital, at a valuation of €1.1 billion (approximately $1.3 billion). As European and allied demand for sovereign, cost-effective air defence and missile interception grows, the new funding will support Cambridge Aerospace in scaling its operations further.
