Chery Responds to Fengyun A9L Paint Issue With Free Repairs and Lifetime Warranty
Chery Automobile said on August 7 that paint wrinkling on some Fengyun A9L vehicles stems from a deviation in glue application and sealing around inner door panel folded edges, with no impact on body structure. The company will provide free inspection and repair for affected owners, with lifetime warranty on repaired areas, and will proactively offer pre-inspection to other owners. Chery said it has optimised production-line sealing and glue application steps and strengthened quality checks to prevent recurrence.
Chery Automobile issued an official response on August 7 to paint issues reported on its Fengyun A9L model. Following investigation, the company said the condition originates from a deviation in glue application and sealing processes in the folded-edge area of the inner door panels, resulting in localised paint wrinkling. The issue is limited to minor surface wrinkling and does not affect the vehicle's body structure. Chery said it will provide free inspection and repair for all Fengyun A9L owners affected, and repaired areas will carry a lifetime warranty.
Under the plan, owners may contact an authorised Chery service centre to book an appointment, and the manufacturer will carry out free repair of the affected paintwork and the inner door panel sealing structure. The repaired paintwork and sealed areas will be covered by a lifetime warranty; should the same problem recur, free re-inspection and repair will be provided. For owners who have not yet noticed any issue, Chery will proactively arrange inspection services, and owners may visit an authorised service centre for a free paint pre-inspection.
Chery also said its quality department has optimised the door folded-edge sealing and glue application steps on the production line and strengthened in-process quality inspection to prevent similar issues in future vehicles.
