Chevrolet Unveils 2027 Silverado with New 5.7L and 6.6L V8s, Starting Around $40,000
Chevrolet's 2027 Silverado pickup debuts with a redesigned exterior and new-generation naturally aspirated V8 engines. The lineup introduces 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8s replacing prior 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter units, alongside updated four-cylinder and diesel options. Standard features include a 16.3-inch touchscreen and 12.2-inch digital cluster across all trims. Seven trim levels range from Work Truck to High Country, with a base price around $40,000.
The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado is set to debut with a fully redesigned exterior and a new generation of naturally aspirated V8 engines. The latest version retains the practicality expected of a pickup while enhancing visual impact through a more powerful, modern design. New LED headlights and taillights create a distinctive lighting signature, with more prominent wheel-arch trim and side skirts. Dual exhaust becomes standard on Custom and above trims, and the front fascia is bolder. Each trim level retains unique design elements while continuing Chevrolet's instantly recognizable design language.
Under the hood, the new Silverado offers four engine choices, with the most significant change being the introduction of new-generation 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter naturally aspirated V8s, replacing the previous 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter units. These new V8s continue the classic small-block V8 heritage, designed to balance heavy towing with everyday driving, delivering class-leading power and torque. Additionally, an improved 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (TurboMax) paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel inline-six, remain available to suit different needs.
Inside, all models come standard with a 16.3-inch central touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, including the base work-oriented trim, replacing the smaller screens previously found on entry-level models. Higher trims such as ZR2 and High Country add an 11.5-inch passenger display, head-up display, and digital rearview mirror, with Super Cruise advanced driver-assistance planned. The new Multi-Flex center console slides and folds into a flat work surface, enhancing utility and storage.
The new Silverado 1500 is offered in seven trim levels, starting with the practical Work Truck (WT), followed by Custom, Custom Trail Boss, a new mid-range Silverado model replacing the former LT, Trail Boss, the off-road-focused ZR2, and the top-tier luxury High Country. The base Work Truck features easy-to-clean vinyl seats and flooring, along with standard large displays and safety features such as automatic emergency braking. Pricing starts at approximately $40,000.
