China Energy Engineering and PowerChina Both See H1 2026 Contract Signings Fall
China Energy Engineering and PowerChina both reported declines in new contract signings for the first half of 2026. China Energy Engineering's cumulative new contracts fell 33.81% year-on-year to 513.188 billion yuan, with domestic contracts down 37.89% and overseas down 22.05%. PowerChina's new contract value dropped 9.73% to 619.893 billion yuan, with domestic contracts down 22.47% but overseas contracts up 39.29%.
China Energy Engineering announced that in the second quarter of 2026, its new contracts totaled 236.992 billion yuan. For the first half of the year, cumulative new contracts reached 513.188 billion yuan, a decrease of 33.81% year-on-year. Among these, domestic contract value was 357.691 billion yuan, down 37.89%, while overseas contract value was 155.497 billion yuan, down 22.05%.
PowerChina released its semi-annual operating results. From January to June 2026, the company signed 4,190 new projects with a total contract value of 619.893 billion yuan, down 9.73% year-on-year. By segment, energy and power contracts amounted to 386.265 billion yuan, down 10.46%; water resources and environment contracts totaled 56.321 billion yuan, down 27.16%; and urban construction and infrastructure contracts reached 156.409 billion yuan, up 9.17%. By region, domestic contracts were 422.569 billion yuan, down 22.47%, while overseas contracts were 197.324 billion yuan, up 39.29%.
