China Pacific Life Files for Public Fund Sales Registration; 2025 Premiums RMB 295.86 Billion
China Pacific Life Insurance has applied for registration as a public fund sales institution, with the China Securities Regulatory Commission confirming receipt of its application materials on August 11. The move extends the insurer's push into financial services. In 2025, the company reported scale premiums of RMB 295.855 billion, up 12.7% year on year; new business value of RMB 18.609 billion, up 40.1%; net profit of RMB 42.165 billion, up 17.7%; and a comprehensive solvency ratio of 228%. Nine insurance institutions currently hold public fund distribution qualifications.
On August 11, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) disclosed on its website the progress of administrative licensing, showing that the application materials of China Pacific Life Insurance Co. , Ltd. for "Registration as a Public Fund Sales Institution" had been received. At present, several insurers including China Ping An Life, China Life and Taikang Life have obtained public fund distribution qualifications, and some insurance agencies and insurance brokerage firms also hold relevant licenses.
Pacific Life was established in November 2001 and is the professional life insurance subsidiary of China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co. , which was founded on May 13, 1991. The application is part of the company's efforts to expand into the financial services sector. The CSRC has completed receipt of the materials and will proceed with verification and review under the administrative licensing process.
As of August 11, among insurance agencies, Xuanyuan Insurance Agency distributed the largest number of funds at 8,409; among insurers, Sunshine Life cooperated with the most fund companies at 126. In 2025, Pacific Life achieved scale premiums of RMB 295.855 billion, up 12.7% year on year; new business value of RMB 18.609 billion, up 40.1%; net profit of RMB 42.165 billion, up 17.7%; and a comprehensive solvency ratio of 228%.
As of the end of 2025, China Life's distributed non-money market fund balance reached RMB 208.9 billion, ranking first among insurance institutions. Sunshine Life cooperated with 126 fund companies and distributed 6,876 funds. Xuanyuan Insurance Agency distributed 8,409 funds, exceeding China Life's 7,111. Currently, nine insurance institutions hold public fund distribution qualifications, with Taikang Life distributing 41 funds and cooperating with one fund company. Yongxin Insurance Sales Service Co. voluntarily cancelled its fund sales license in 2023.
