China Railway Group Posts H1 Revenue of RMB589 billion, Net Profit RMB1.85 billion
China State Railway Group reported first-half revenue of RMB589 billion and net profit of RMB1.85 billion, with an asset-liability ratio of 61.83%. On August 31, China State Railway Group disclosed its financial results for the first half of 2026. During the period, the group achieved total operating revenue of RMB589 billion and a net profit of RMB1.85 billion. Its asset-liability ratio stood at 61.83%, down 0.15 percentage points from the end of 2025. Several transport indicators hit record highs for the corresponding period.
In passenger transport, the national railway carried a total of 2.348 billion passenger trips in the first half, up 5% year on year, setting a new record for the period. On May 1, it carried 24.484 million passenger trips, a record single-day high. In freight transport, the national railway completed 2.015 billion tonnes of cargo in the first half, up 1.8% year on year. Total contracted logistics volume reached 1.194 billion tonnes, with 35,800 cross-bureau freight trains operated. Rail-water intermodal transport volume reached 9.12 million TEUs, up 11% year on year, while full-process logistics volume primarily using rail trunk lines reached 243 million tonnes, up 87.9%.
In the first half, fixed-asset investment in the national railway totaled RMB363.2 billion, up 2.1% year on year, with 355.2 km of new lines put into operation. On the technology front, a committee was established under the railway science and technology innovation alliance to advance international standards, promoting innovation in mobile equipment and track engineering. The CR450 high-speed train has progressed smoothly in operational assessment; since the prototype rolled off the production line at the end of 2024, it has achieved a speed of 450 km/h with all indicators passing, but it must accumulate 600,000 km of testing before carrying passengers.
