China South-to-North Water Diversion Group Co. , Ltd. issued a statement on July 29 denying any investment or construction of the so-called 'Qaidam Basin Water Resource Allocation and Desertification Comprehensive Management Project,' which it said was fabricated by criminals impersonating the company. The group, with registered capital of RMB 150 billion and established in October 2020, warned the public to seek project information only from official channels and report any suspicious activity to police.

China South-to-North Water Diversion Group Co. , Ltd. issued a statement on July 29 saying that recently, criminals impersonating the company have fabricated an engineering project, setting up a so-called 'China South-to-North Water Diversion Group Qaidam Basin Water Resource Allocation and Desertification Comprehensive Management Project.' The company and its subsidiaries have never invested in or constructed this project. Any claims of affiliation, construction management, cooperative development, entrusted management, or other authorized relationships with the company are false information. The impersonation by criminals is unrelated to the company, which assumes no legal liability and reserves all rights to pursue legal action against the relevant parties.

The company stated that information on project investment, construction, and bidding procurement should be based on the official website, official WeChat account, and lawfully issued announcements. The public should remain vigilant. If any clues are found or losses are incurred, they should promptly report to the public security authorities. was formally established in Beijing on October 23, 2020, as a wholly state-owned company directly under central government management with approval from the State Council, with registered capital of RMB 150 billion. On December 31, 2022, the company was officially listed among the central State-owned enterprises under the supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
