Huawei and China Unicom Deepen Computing and AI Ties, Ascend Super Node Reaches 330 Cities
At China Unicom's 2026 Partner Conference on September 10, Huawei executive director and ICT BG CEO Yang Chaobin said China Unicom has deployed Ascend computing at scale and rolled out 384 super nodes, while advancing adaptation of Ascend 950 to Unicom Cloud. The two companies support zero-day launches of mainstream industry models and joint industry AI solutions. China Unicom has also deployed 5G-Advanced across more than 330 cities, with Huawei supporting FDD large-uplink networks in Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai.
On September 10, at China Unicom's 2026 Partner Conference, Yang Chaobin, Huawei executive director and CEO of its ICT Business Group, said that as agentic AI moves into reality, computing infrastructure has become an indispensable new foundation for the intelligent era.
Yang said China Unicom has deployed Ascend computing at scale and rolled out 384 super nodes, and is advancing adaptation between Ascend 950 and Unicom Cloud. Huawei supports China Unicom's computing platform in achieving zero-day launches of mainstream industry models, improving computing efficiency and building AI infrastructure capabilities. Based on the Ascend foundation, the two sides are jointly expanding industry solutions and bringing industry AI applications, including office and legal assistants, onto Unicom Cloud.
On connectivity, China Unicom has achieved large-scale 5G-Advanced deployment in more than 330 cities. Huawei supported China Unicom in taking the lead in building FDD large-uplink networks in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and other locations, and in integrating AI technology into core services such as voice and data. Huawei said it will continue to help China Unicom build an end-to-end, full-stack AI service capability system.
