Chongqing Flags Qingfeng Toilet Paper as Substandard; Maker Withdraws Batch

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

Chongqing's market regulator found Qingfeng-brand toilet paper noncompliant in a sampling of 31 product categories after its tensile index failed both the initial test and a retest. The company attributed the defect to refining process parameters that deviated during production commissioning, causing the longitudinal tensile index to exceed national standards. The affected batch has been removed from shelves and sealed across all channels, with a corrective plan submitted to regulators.

The Chongqing Municipal Market Supervision Administration recently published the results of its 2025 municipal quality supervision sampling of 31 product categories. The notice showed that Qingfeng-brand toilet paper was found to have failed the tensile index test, and a retest remained noncompliant.

Qingfeng's official customer service said that during production commissioning of the affected batch, refining process parameters deviated, causing fluctuations in the longitudinal tensile index that exceeded national standard requirements. The batch has been removed from shelves and sealed across all sales channels. The company is conducting a full review of product distribution and has submitted a complete explanation and corrective action plan to regulators.
