CLP Holdings chief executive T. K. Chiang attended the 12th Asia-Pacific Energy Sustainable Development High-Level Forum and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) energy ministers' dialogue with the business community in Beijing, taking part in a panel discussion. He exchanged views with government officials, business leaders and representatives of international organizations on energy transition investment and regional cooperation, and on how governments and companies can drive energy investment.
On regional cooperation, Chiang said platforms such as APEC help governments, companies and financial institutions pool experience, advance practical cooperation and promote cross-border investment. He noted that the Belt and Road Initiative helps channel capital, technology and expertise into clean energy and infrastructure projects in the region.
Chiang said seizing energy transition opportunities requires large-scale funding, and that clear policy direction, transparent market mechanisms and predictable long-term returns are key to building investor confidence. Hong Kong, he said, can play a distinctive role in mobilizing capital to support the region's energy transition. He cited the city's deep capital markets, broad international investor base, mature professional services and close ties with mainland China, saying Hong Kong can leverage its advantages as a super connector and super value-adder to link capital with clean energy and infrastructure projects and advance the Asia-Pacific energy transition.
Chiang said CLP, as an energy company headquartered in Hong Kong with operations across Asia-Pacific, will continue to support the region's energy transition through prudent investment.
