CNPC Leadership Vows Deeper Oil and Gas Ties With SCO States, Better Overseas Strategy
CNPC's party leadership met on September 7, chaired by Chairman Dai Houliang, to deepen oil and gas cooperation with Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The meeting called for country-specific project advancement, improved overseas management and risk prevention, and stronger international operations. It also emphasized safety, public security abroad, and brand-building initiatives such as Luban Workshops and signature projects.
On September 7, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) held a party leadership meeting chaired by Dai Houliang, the group's Party Secretary and Chairman. The meeting outlined steps to deepen practical oil and gas energy cooperation with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, calling for stronger alignment of development strategies and more focused research on cooperation approaches from an overall perspective. It urged the advancement of key cooperation projects on a country-by-country basis, and a comprehensive assessment of international geopolitical dynamics and the global energy supply landscape to refine production and operating strategies and enhance international operational capabilities.
The meeting also stressed the need to strengthen overseas project management and accelerate improvements in overseas business governance. It emphasized robust workplace safety and public security measures abroad, timely mitigation of major overseas risks, and protection of employee safety and overseas assets. In addition, the group reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, pledging to host major diplomatic events, coordinate the development of landmark projects and "small yet beautiful" livelihood initiatives, and build Luban Workshops to project a strong CNPC brand image.
