DeepSeek Resumes Second Funding Round; Monolith Management in Talks

Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has resumed its second funding round, with investment firm Monolith Management in talks to join. If successful, the company will raise over RMB 100 billion across two rounds. DeepSeek completed its first round in June, raising $7 billion. The second round had been paused after online reports of founder Liang Wenfeng's investor communications.

Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek has resumed its second round of financing. Monolith Management was co-founded in 2021 by Cao Xi, former partner at Sequoia Capital China, and Tim Wang, former partner in secondary markets at Boyu Capital.

If this round goes smoothly, DeepSeek will raise more than RMB 100 billion in total across the two rounds.

DeepSeek completed its first round in June, raising $7 billion. Earlier, the second round had been temporarily suspended after online reports of founder Liang Wenfeng's communications with investors during the first round.
