EA Announces Battlefield 6 Free Trial August 18-25 With Wake Island and Top Gun Content
EA will run a limited-time free trial for Battlefield 6 from August 18 to 25 through the Battlefield REDSEC client, coinciding with the Season 4 Episode 2 update that reintroduces Wake Island and adds Top Gun: Maverick-themed content. The Carrier Assault mode delivers 64-player, jet-focused combat in which two teams seek to destroy each other's carrier via direct firepower, M-COM detonation, or capture of surface-to-ship missile batteries. A dedicated air mode, Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, features six two-man squads flying F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre jets in 10-minute duels over Tsuru Reef.
Battlefield 6 will launch a limited-time free trial on August 18, running through August 25. The trial debuts alongside the Season 4 Episode 2 update, which reintroduces the Wake Island map and adds Top Gun collaboration content. A related trailer has been released, featuring characters and voice elements from Top Gun: Maverick.
During the free trial, players can experience base-game content through the Battlefield REDSEC client. The base game's Carrier Assault mode is built for 64-player combat, with gameplay centered on jet-fighter action as two teams battle to destroy each other's aircraft carrier base. The mode offers multiple paths to victory, including damaging the carrier or detonating M-COMs, either by attacking directly with heavy firepower from jets, tanks, or shoulder-launched weapons, or by capturing surface-to-ship missile (SSM) batteries scattered across the expansive map.
The REDSEC client will also introduce a dedicated air-combat mode, Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, in which players pilot the F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre jets in six two-man squads for 10-minute aerial duels over Tsuru Reef.
All trial content is delivered through the Battlefield REDSEC client, which must be kept up to date to participate in the event.
