Gansu Appoints Dong Dongyuan and Shi Hailong as Chairman of Two Banks
The Gansu provincial government has appointed Dong Dongyuan as chairman of Gansu Rural Commercial Bank and Shi Hailong as chairman of Gansu Bank. Shi resigned as president and awaits regulatory approval, while Dong previously served as a vice president of Agricultural Bank of China's Gansu branch. Gansu Rural Commercial Bank, which opened in 2026 as the first provincial-level rural commercial bank and the seventh nationally, has registered capital of RMB 44.918 billion and is preparing a shareholder meeting to confirm the appointment.
On August 20, the Gansu Provincial Government published a notice on personnel appointments and removals for two provincial-level corporate banks. The notice appoints Dong Dongyuan as chairman of Gansu Rural Commercial Bank Co. , Ltd. and Shi Hailong as chairman of Gansu Bank Co. , while relieving Shi of his position as president. It also removes Wang Wenyong as a director of Gansu Rural Commercial Bank and Liu Qing as chairman of Gansu Bank.
