Li Shufu Steps Down as Geely Automobile Chairman; An Conghui Takes Over
Li Shufu has resigned as chairman and executive director of Geely Automobile Holdings effective August 18, 2026, becoming lifetime honorary chairman while remaining chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. An Conghui succeeds him as chairman, with Gui Shengyue appointed vice chairman and Gan Jiayue as chief executive. The company reported first-half 2026 sales exceeding 1.42 million vehicles, revenue of RMB 173.6 billion, and core net profit of RMB 9.68 billion.
Geely Automobile Holdings Limited has announced a management reshuffle. Effective August 18, 2026, Li Shufu has resigned as chairman and executive director of Geely Automobile and has been appointed lifetime honorary chairman of the company. As the company's principal and controlling shareholder, he will continue to give full support to the company's long-term development and will remain chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. An Conghui has been appointed chairman of Geely Automobile and will lead the new board to strengthen corporate synergies, enhance cooperation with the controlling shareholder, and consolidate the "One Geely" strategy.
Meanwhile, Li Donghui has resigned as vice chairman of the Geely Automobile board but will remain an executive director. Gui Shengyue has resigned as chief executive and has been appointed vice chairman of the board while continuing as an executive director. Gan Jiayue has been appointed chief executive of Geely Automobile, responsible for day-to-day operations and driving the implementation of the company's long-term strategic objectives. Geely Automobile said the reshuffle is designed to further improve the professional manager authorization mechanism and optimize the corporate governance structure.
At the 2026 interim results briefing, Geely Automobile vice chairman Gui Shengyue said the move marks a declaration of de-familialization for the company, signaling that it will no longer rely on personal charisma and authority, and that governance will become more transparent and decision-making more professional and scientific. An Conghui said Geely Automobile will further deepen the "One Geely" strategy by optimizing resource allocation and business structure, improving system-wide coordination efficiency, reducing internal transaction costs, and continuing to advance business integration and streamlining.
Geely Automobile's 2026 interim results show first-half total sales of more than 1.42 million vehicles, total revenue of RMB 173.6 billion, and core net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 9.68 billion. In a video address at the results briefing, Li Shufu said the automobile industry is a marathon without a finish line, and that corporate succession and value orientation determine a company's capacity for sustainable development. He said the company will actively cultivate professional talent and build a professional team to ensure the effective and transparent operation of the three-tier corporate governance structure.
