Goldwind Ships First 16 Truckloads of Green Methanol from Inner Mongolia to South Korea
Goldwind has dispatched its first commercial batch of green methanol from its Xing'an League base in Inner Mongolia. The 16 truckloads are bound for Busan, South Korea, via Yingkou port in Liaoning. The project, using wind power and corn stover under a wind-hydrogen-storage-biomass model, targets total capacity of 1.45 million tonnes, with a first-phase capacity of 250,000 tonnes.
On September 10, 2026, a ceremony was held in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, to mark the first shipment of green methanol. It was the first commercial delivery from Goldwind's biomass-coupled green hydrogen project to produce 1.45 million tonnes of green methanol. The first trial-production batch of Goldwind's green methanol was formally dispatched.
The green methanol production base is located in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia. It adopts a multi-energy synergistic coupling technology integrating wind, hydrogen, storage and biomass, using local wind resources and corn stover as feedstock to produce green methanol that meets European Union ISCC standards. The first trial-production batch comprises 16 truckloads, currently being transported from the production base to Yingkou port in Liaoning, destined for Busan, South Korea.
In November 2023, Goldwind signed a long-term green methanol offtake agreement with Maersk for 500,000 tonnes per year, to support low-carbon operations of Maersk's large methanol dual-fuel vessels. Goldwind's green methanol project is planned in three phases, with total capacity of 1.45 million tonnes, of which the first phase accounts for 250,000 tonnes. Goldwind (002202. SZ) is the implementing entity for the project.
