Google Opens First Japanese Flagship Store in Tokyo's Omotesando in 2026
Google Japan opened its first direct flagship store, Google Store Omotesando, in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on August 13, 2026. The 1,158-square-meter store, located in Tokyu Plaza Omotesando, features a lantern-inspired design and showcases the Pixel 11 series smartphones launched the previous day, along with Fitbit wearables and an AI avatar experience. Staff provide online order pickup, repair, and in-person consultations. It is Google's 11th store globally and first outside the US. In Japan's 2025 smartphone shipment share, Apple led with 51.6%, while Google held 12.7%.
On August 13, 2026, Google Japan opened its first direct flagship store in Japan, "Google Store Omotesando," in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. Located within Tokyu Plaza Omotesando's "Omokado" area, the store has a total floor area of 1,158 square meters and features a lantern-inspired exterior design. The first floor primarily showcases the Pixel 11 series smartphones released on August 12, and offers experience services for wearable devices such as Fitbit. The store also includes an AI avatar experience area where visitors can transform selfie photos into virtual avatars. Dedicated staff are on site to provide services including online order pickup, repairs, and face-to-face consultations.
Previously, Google operated only 10 direct stores in the United States. The Omotesando store is the 11th globally and the first direct flagship store outside the US. In the 2025 fiscal year, Apple led Japan's smartphone shipment share with 51.6%, while Google ranked second with 12.7%, a gap of more than four times.
