Gree Electric's New Technical School Led by Dong Mingzhu Opens First Intake of 300
Dong Mingzhu, chairwoman of Gree Electric Appliances, will serve as principal of the Gree Technical School in Zhuhai, a vocational institution fully funded by the company. The school's first recruitment drive for the 2026 academic year, running through mid-September, targets 300 students with annual tuition of between RMB 9,000 and RMB 15,000 across nine majors. Admission is open nationwide to junior high school graduates aged 15 to 18. Students will receive practical training tied to Gree's industry chain and priority access to employment at the company and its partners.
Dong Mingzhu recently appeared at the Gree Technical School in Zhuhai, inspecting the new-student interview process and preparations for campus facilities, while speaking with accompanying parents about the school's operations. On-site footage showed her interacting with a 15-year-old applicant and playfully comparing heights. As of August 23, the school had completed all interview and assessment rounds for this intake, with official admission notices to be issued to successful applicants within the week.

The school's initial curriculum spans nine majors: cooling equipment operation and maintenance, mold manufacturing, intelligent equipment operation and maintenance, mechatronics technology, electrical automation equipment installation and maintenance, electromechanical product testing technology, IoT application technology, multimedia production, and computer applications and maintenance. Gree says the school adopts an "enrol in school, enter the enterprise; graduate, fit the job" model, under which students can tap directly into resources across Gree's full industry chain, with practical training tied to real production settings. Graduates will be given priority for internships and employment at Gree Electric and its upstream and downstream partner companies.
