Haier Opens China's First AI Home Robot Experience Center in Qingdao
Haier opened China's first AI home robot experience center in Qingdao on August 16, featuring exoskeleton, housework, cooking, and companion robots across mobility, home, kitchen, and care scenarios. The flagship W3 exoskeleton robot weighs 1.75kg with a dual-motor carbon-fiber and titanium body, and a new W3 Mom version addresses fit issues for elderly women. The center provides gait assessment and personalized fitting, while housework robots handle laundry, floor cleaning, and fall detection. Qingdao positions the facility as a model for moving robotics from technology aggregation to consumer-ready scenarios.
On August 16, China's first AI home robot experience center officially opened to the public in Qingdao. Developed by Haier, the center integrates full-service exoskeleton robot experiences, housework robots, cooking robots, and companion robots, covering daily scenarios including mobility, home, kitchen, and companionship. Through multi-scenario live demonstrations, the center turns "hands-free housework" from a concept into a tangible lifestyle experience.
In the mobility scenario, the AI exoskeleton robot drew the most attention. The flagship W3 model features Haier's self-developed AFI wearable system, constructed from carbon fiber and titanium alloy, with a dual-motor body weighing 1.75kg. In response to feedback that the standard model did not fit elderly women well, Haier launched and began selling the W3 Mom version. The store is equipped with a professional gait detection system offering full-process services including gait assessment and personalized fitting adjustments. Users can try the robot on flat ground, ramps, and stairs to experience its load-reduction effect.
Other home scenarios feature multiple robot products. The Haiwa housework robot can identify clothing color and material, autonomously load and unload laundry from the washing machine, and complete the wash-and-dry cycle. The embodied cleaning robot can tidy floors and switch cleaning tools based on stain type. The companion robot provides accompanying protection and fall detection alerts, serving both elderly and children. An AI cooking robot is also on display at the store.
The opening of the experience center represents an important step in Qingdao's efforts to transform scientific and technological achievements into home applications. By establishing a physical space that is "experienceable, serviceable, and consumable," Qingdao is exploring a model for the robotics industry to move from "technology aggregation" to "scenario implementation," providing a reference for home robots to progress from concept validation to mass consumer adoption.
