XPeng Unveils Robotaxi Mass Production Plan, Targets Safety-Driver-Free Operations by 2027
XPeng Chief Executive He Xiaopeng said on August 24 that the company's pre-production Robotaxi equipped with second-generation VLA technology has completed more than 2,000 internal test orders in Guangzhou, covering the full passenger-carrying demonstration process. The company has finished developing its cloud-based takeover platform and targets safety-driver-free passenger operations by 2027. XPeng has also formed a group-level business development team to promote its Turing AI chips, second-generation VLA models, Robotaxi and humanoid robot technologies in global markets, with He personally serving as robot business chief executive.

The company is integrating strengths accumulated in its automotive business, including supply chain, automotive-grade manufacturing and global footprint, together with advantages from its autonomous driving business, such as Turing AI chips, AI infrastructure and physical-world foundation models, into the robot business segment to accelerate robot mass production and commercialization.
