HGTECH Opens Optics Park, Launches 800G to 1.6T Silicon Photonic Modules

Published: Updated: By 24TopNews Editorial Desk

HGTECH, based in Wuhan Optics Valley, has begun production at its Optics Park and rolled out high-speed optical interconnect products including 800G to 1.6T silicon photonic modules, a 12.8T XPO, a 6.4T NPO optical engine and a 3.2T CPO optical engine. The company, which built its business breaking foreign dominance in laser cutting and welding equipment, is expanding into AI infrastructure and automotive optical communications.

HGTECH, or Huagong Technology Industry Co. , Ltd. , located in Wuhan Optics Valley, houses a laser technology museum whose more than 300 exhibits trace the company's development history. In its early years, the company broke foreign monopolies with laser cutting and welding equipment. Its laser technologies are used in industrial settings including automotive body-in-white welding, precision part marking, laser cleaning and 3D printing.

In August 2025, HGTECH's Optics Park officially began production. Inside its high-speed optical module production base, technicians operate touchscreens to manufacture optical modules the size of a USB drive. The company has launched a range of high-speed optical interconnect products, including 800G to 1.6T silicon photonic modules, a 12.8T XPO, a 6.4T NPO optical engine and a 3.2T CPO optical engine. During large-model training, thousands of GPUs need to exchange data at high speed; optical modules perform the conversion between optical and electrical signals and are used for information transmission in data center equipment rooms.

HGTECH has also introduced automotive high-speed optical communications products, promoting the replacement of copper with optics inside vehicles. With the adoption of automotive optical fiber, signal latency is reduced and bandwidth is increased. The company's business covers key underlying technologies including optics, electronics, machinery, mechanics, software and computing.
