Hong Kong Customs and PDD Sign MOU to Boost Cross-Border E-Commerce Compliance
Hong Kong Customs and PDD Holdings have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a cooperation mechanism aimed at enhancing compliance in cross-border e-commerce. The agreement, signed at Customs headquarters, will facilitate communication and compliance promotion, helping platforms and merchants understand Hong Kong laws and import controls to prevent banned goods from entering via online channels. PDD will use big data and AI to strengthen management of products, merchants, and transactions.
Hong Kong Customs and PDD Holdings have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a cooperation mechanism. The signing ceremony was held today at the Customs headquarters building, where Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise Wong Ho-yin and representatives of PDD Holdings completed the signing in the presence of Commissioner of Customs and Excise Chan Tze-tat.
The memorandum covers the establishment of a communication and collaboration mechanism between the two parties, the enhancement of compliance promotion, and assistance for platforms and merchants in understanding Hong Kong laws and import control requirements, with the aim of preventing prohibited goods from entering Hong Kong through online shopping channels.
PDD Holdings stated that it will leverage big data and artificial intelligence technologies to strengthen the management of products, merchants, and transaction processes.
