HP has officially launched the OmniBook 3, a 14-inch laptop powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X processor and equipped with an OLED display. The device is positioned as a direct competitor to Apple's MacBook Neo, following Dell's XPS 13 in the same category. In terms of display technology, the OmniBook 3's OLED panel differs from the IPS LCD screens used in Apple's entry-level Macs.

On core specifications, the OmniBook 3 opts for Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chip rather than an Intel processor. The chip features an octa-core CPU running at 3.00GHz with 30MB of cache, an integrated Adreno X1 GPU, and an NPU (neural processing unit) delivering 45 TOPS of computing power. Standard storage includes 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 256GB NVMe solid-state drive. HP has not yet confirmed whether the memory is soldered onto the board.

The display is a 1920×1080 resolution OLED panel. It supports 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, with a 0.2-millisecond response time and 300 nits of brightness.

For battery and connectivity, the OmniBook 3 houses a 60Whr battery, with HP claiming a maximum battery life of up to 41 hours on a single charge. The laptop ships with a 65W USB-C GaN (gallium nitride) charger that supports fast charging. Ports include two USB-C ports supporting DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery, two USB-A ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and a 1080p webcam is located above the screen.

On pricing, the OmniBook 3 starts at $499.99 at Best Buy and $599.99 on Amazon, with both channel prices below the MacBook Neo's $699 price tag.
