HP Launches OmniDesk Mini Desktop With Core Ultra 9 and 50 TOPS NPU

HP has launched the OmniDesk Mini, a roughly 0.8-litre desktop weighing about 475 grams, positioned for office work, content creation, software development and AI-assisted tasks. It spans Intel Core 3 to Core Ultra 9 processors, with the top Core Ultra 9 386H offering 16 cores, 16 threads and a 50 TOPS NPU. HP has officially launched the OmniDesk Mini, a mini desktop PC with a volume of about 0.8 litres, body dimensions of roughly 13 by 13 by 4.8 centimetres and a weight of about 475 grams. The product is positioned for everyday office work, content creation, software development and AI-assisted workflows. Unveiled during Computex 2026, the OmniDesk Mini is marketed by HP as a mini AI PC supporting Thunderbolt Share. It was originally scheduled to go on sale in August 2026, and actual configurations are now available in some markets, with launch timing and specific models differing by region.

The OmniDesk Mini offers multiple processor platforms ranging from Core 3 to Core Ultra 9. The entry-level version uses an Intel Core 3 304 processor with 5 cores and 5 threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 4.3GHz and an integrated Intel AI Boost NPU delivering 15 TOPS of AI performance. The Core 5 315 and Core 5 320 have 6 cores and 6 threads, with maximum frequencies of 4.4GHz and 4.6GHz respectively. Higher-specification versions can carry the Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 7 356H and Core Ultra 9 386H.

The Core Ultra 9 386H has 16 cores and 16 threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 4.9GHz and an Intel AI Boost NPU rated at 50 TOPS. The Core Ultra 7 356H also has 16 cores and 16 threads, a maximum frequency of 4.7GHz and a 50 TOPS NPU. The Core Ultra 5 325 has 8 cores and 8 threads and a 47 TOPS NPU.

For memory, the OmniDesk Mini uses onboard LPDDR5X, with capacity varying by motherboard and processor configuration from 8GB and 12GB up to 16GB, 24GB and even 32GB, and a maximum speed of 8533 MT/s. Because the memory is onboard, users cannot replace or expand it themselves. For storage, some versions come with PCIe NVMe M. 2 solid-state drives, and HP offers 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacity options. Versions with higher-specification motherboards can use PCIe 5.0 x4 SSDs, some lower-configuration versions use PCIe 4.0 SSDs, and some entry-level models also offer UFS storage. The OmniDesk Mini provides two M. 2 slots internally.

For graphics, the OmniDesk Mini has no discrete GPU and relies on Intel Graphics integrated into the Intel processors. Core Ultra series processors include a built-in NPU that can handle some local AI computing tasks, reducing the dependence of certain AI workloads on the CPU and GPU. HP positions it as a small desktop platform capable of running local AI applications, developing AI tools and handling AI-assisted workflows. The OmniDesk Mini supports Thunderbolt Share, which allows two compatible Windows computers connected via Thunderbolt to share a keyboard and mouse, share screens and transfer files at high speed. Higher-specification versions can connect up to four 4K displays simultaneously.

For connectivity, higher-specification versions provide two Thunderbolt 4 ports, along with USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1 and RJ45 wired network ports, with some versions supporting 2.5GbE wired networking. Wireless options can include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, while some earlier-announced configurations support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

In the Japanese market, HP lists the entry-level OmniDesk Mini at a starting price of 198,000 yen, configured with a Core 3 304, 8GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. The base-performance version with a Core 5 315, 12GB of memory and a 512GB SSD starts at 229,900 yen. A version starting at about 799.99 US dollars has appeared in the United States. The OmniDesk Mini comes in two platform families: one using Core 3 and Core 5 series processors and another using Core Ultra Series 3. The two share a similar mini chassis design but differ in CPU and NPU performance, memory specifications and port capabilities. The chassis has a square metal design measuring about 13 by 13 by 4.8 centimetres. The product concentrates an NPU, local AI computing, Thunderbolt Share, multi-display output and high-speed storage into a body of less than 1 litre.
