HSBC and EdUHK Launch Hong Kong's First SEN Financial Education Training Course

HSBC and the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) have launched the territory's first financial education training course for students with special educational needs (SEN). Certified by EdUHK's Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education, the course covers five modules addressing financial difficulties, learning needs, and teaching strategies. The programme aims to train 150 teachers and is expected to benefit 10,000 local SEN students. HSBC Hong Kong CEO Ng Yeung Yuk-yu said the initiative extends community support and promotes financial literacy, while the institute's executive director Sin Kuen-fung said it translates research into practical teaching strategies.

HSBC and the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) have jointly launched the territory's first financial education training course for students with special educational needs (SEN). The course, certified by EdUHK's Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education, comprises five major themes covering the financial difficulties, learning needs, and corresponding teaching strategies for SEN students. The project plans to train a total of 150 teachers and is expected to benefit 10,000 local SEN students.

Ng Yeung Yuk-yu, CEO of HSBC Hong Kong and General Manager of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, said the collaboration aims to extend support to the community, ensuring that customers from diverse backgrounds have access to basic banking services, and to promote financial education to enhance the overall financial literacy of Hong Kong people. Sin Kuen-fung, Executive Director of the Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education at EdUHK, said the project translates the institute's years of experience in catering to diverse learning needs, school-based support, and teacher training into immediately applicable teaching strategies and resources, addressing the practical challenges students face in financial learning.
