Huawei Connect 2026: Wang Tao Sets Out Computing-Centric AI Strategy
At Huawei Connect in Shanghai, Huawei Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman Wang Tao outlined the company's AI strategy centered on computing power and hardware monetization. He proposed a super node plus cluster approach to build China's computing foundation, pledged an open-source computing ecosystem supporting native training of mainstream large models, and said the Pangu model will focus on making Huawei products intelligent. Huawei will also offer flexible offline and online computing solutions to accelerate industry intelligence and bring AI to devices and vehicles.
Huawei held its Huawei Connect conference in Shanghai. Wang Tao, Huawei's Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman, presented the company's plans for the intelligent era at the event, saying that computing power is the core of Huawei's AI strategy and that the company will adhere to hardware monetization. He also proposed a "super node plus cluster" approach to build China's computing foundation.
Wang Tao said Huawei will build an open-source and open computing ecosystem, support native training of mainstream large models, and embrace a landscape of many models and diverse forms, while the Pangu large model will focus on making Huawei products intelligent.
