Huawei Shows 7.2Tbps Near-Package Optics Module for AI Infrastructure
Huawei has demonstrated a 7.2Tbps near-package optics (NPO) module for artificial intelligence infrastructure, calling it the industry's first such module. The module integrates 36 channels, each running at 200Gbps.
Near-package optics places optical components closer to the switch chip, which can reduce signal loss and power consumption as AI clusters connect more processors.
Huawei said the product is still in development, and mass production will depend on supply chain and manufacturing readiness.
