Jiangsu Bank and Bank of Nanjing H1 2026 Profit Up Over 8%, Headcount and Pay Fall

Jiangsu Bank and Bank of Nanjing reported net profit growth above 8% in the first half of 2026 while reducing headcount and payroll costs. Jiangsu Bank's net profit rose 8.09% to RMB 21.876 billion, with revenue up 9.11% to RMB 48.952 billion. Bank of Nanjing saw net profit up 8.17% to RMB 13.65 billion and revenue up 10.94% to RMB 31.596 billion. Both banks cut staff and lowered cost-to-income ratios.

Jiangsu Bank and Bank of Nanjing released their half-year reports in August 2026. Both banks saw net profit growth exceed 8% in the first half, while their headcounts declined from end-2025 levels, leading to corresponding reductions in labor costs. Jiangsu Bank reported a larger personnel reduction, while Bank of Nanjing also cut its workforce. As of end-June 2026, Jiangsu Bank had 21,062 employees, down 827 from end-2025, a decrease of approximately 3.78%. Its salary and bonus expenses for the first half totaled RMB 3.324 billion, down 10.6% year-on-year; the cost-to-income ratio stood at 20.43%, down 1.78 percentage points year-on-year. On the performance side, the bank achieved operating revenue of RMB 48.952 billion, up 9.11% year-on-year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of RMB 21.876 billion, up 8.09% year-on-year. For Bank of Nanjing, as of end-June 2026, the bank had 17,684 employees, down 254 from end-2025. Employee compensation was RMB 5.039 billion, down RMB 178 million from end-2025, a decrease of approximately 3.41%. The cost-to-income ratio fell to 22.7%, down 3.37 percentage points from end-2025 and 2.37 percentage points year-on-year. The bank achieved operating revenue of RMB 31.596 billion, up 10.94% year-on-year, and net profit attributable to the parent company's shareholders of RMB 13.65 billion, up 8.17% year-on-year. In terms of revenue structure, Jiangsu Bank's net fee and commission income was RMB 3.194 billion in the first half, up 0.26% year-on-year. Bank of Nanjing's corresponding income was RMB 2.283 billion, down 18.5% year-on-year, and its net non-interest income fell 24.73% year-on-year. Despite the staff reductions and lower labor costs, both banks maintained growth in revenue and net profit.
