Jinkai New Energy Advances Green-Power Direct-Supply Computing Projects in Hami and Ulanqab

China is promoting coordination between new-energy bases and national computing hubs, encouraging direct green-power supply and integrated source-grid-load-storage models. At the 2026 Green Low-Carbon Expo, state-controlled Jinkai New Energy showcased its three-track strategy of clean power, low-carbon products and power-computing coordination. Its Hami cloud-based computing center with direct green-power supply was named a Digital China case; in Ulanqab, the first-phase computing project has been filed, with reserves in Zhangjiakou and Zhongwei.

Against the backdrop of digital-economy growth and the dual-carbon strategy, China has continued to issue policy documents that explicitly coordinate the planning of large new-energy bases with national computing hubs, encourage the joint construction of computing facilities and renewable-energy projects, promote new business models such as direct green-power supply and integrated source-grid-load-storage systems, and guide the industry from "power supplying computing" toward two-way interaction between power and computing.

China's installed wind and solar capacity continues to expand, and western regions rich in new energy have notable resource endowments. Relying on the eight national computing hub nodes, localities are exploring models that integrate wind and solar resources with the computing industry, and a number of demonstration projects have been launched. Power-computing coordination still faces issues such as cross-industry mechanism alignment, energy-storage support, and improvement of the market-based trading system.

At the 2026 Green Low-Carbon Expo, Jinkai New Energy Co. , Ltd. , a state-controlled listed company, presented its industrial practice. As a central-local mixed-ownership reform enterprise, the company has deepened its clean-energy businesses in wind power, photovoltaics and energy storage, established a three-track development strategy of "clean power, low-carbon products and power-computing coordination," and made green computing a key expansion direction. In Hami, Xinjiang, Jinkai New Energy has built the Cloud Silk Road integrated computing center, which achieves direct green-power supply and was selected as a typical case of Digital China construction by the National Data Administration. In Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, it is advancing the layout of a large-scale green computing project, whose first-phase computing project has completed filing, while carrying out project reserves and ecosystem cooperation in Zhangjiakou, Zhongwei and other places.
