JR Kyushu announced on the 12th that from the 17th it will increase daily round trips on the Kyushu Shinkansen between Shin-Minamata and Kagoshima-Chuo from 6 to 14, citing the readiness of inspection facilities at Kagoshima-Chuo and other stations. However, the heavily damaged Kumamoto to Shin-Minamata section is unlikely to resume service within August.

JR Kyushu announced on the 12th that it will increase the number of daily round trips on the Kyushu Shinkansen between Shin-Minamata and Kagoshima-Chuo, which had been reduced due to the Kumamoto earthquake, starting from the 17th. As inspection systems required for operation are now in place at Kagoshima-Chuo and other stations, daily round trips on this section will rise from 6 to 14. For the severely affected Kumamoto to Shin-Minamata section, resuming service within August remains difficult.
